Microsoft decided it was not longer supporting these email service from inside your Windows live account. But since you have used Windows Live as a client to view, compose and send email your contacts and calendar now reside in Live. It is likely that you use your Yahoo or Gmail address to sign on to Microsoft live. That is you main email address that you are known by for your entire world. Now when you access your profile from the Windows Live email page you get the message “That Microsoft account doesn’t exist”.

You know that an account must exist somewhere. You can log on to Windows live and see your old saved email message, your contacts, and your calendar. The account that Microsoft thought was connected to your account does not exist.

Try these simple steps to get back everything you need and have saved for years.

  • On the Windows Live email page. Click on the circle with you initals in the top right corner of your window.
  • Choose “My Microsoft Account”
  • Select the alias account
  • The original Microsoft account is “lost”

Once you are in the account

  • Click on the icon for the profile. It is just below the house icon.
  • This takes you to the Your Info page.
  • Scroll down the page and find the section labeled “Account Info”.
  • On the right side of the Account Info section locate the “Edit Account Info” link. Click the link with your left mouse button.
  • Under Account Aliases click on the “add email ” link
  • On the Add an Alias page select the default “create a new email address and add it as an alias”
  • The new email address you pick will be assigned the password of the original email alias.
  • You can now use your new alias as a new account in Outlook or Windows mail to retrieve the “lost” old email, contacts, and calendar entires.
  • Add the Yahoo or Gmail address to Outlook or Windows mail to accept al new incoming email to your active accounts on an external service.
